I recall the time when I was a child I used to see 'blobs' of colors almost all of the time! These colors would appear to be just floating around in the air and sometimes I would see them surrounding people.

As children we haven't yet had the chance to develop that wonderful analytical mind that we do develop when coming to adulthood. With that in conclusion, obviously, as a child this occurrence was normal to me and I took it for granted that everyone could see what I could see. I never spoke of this to anyone or asked questions as to what these colors were. The result of my believing this was a normal occurrence for all of us; I grew up with that gift and eventually stopped paying attention to it until it disappeared.

My ability to see these colors remained dormant until I begun developing myself in meditation classes, it was then that the colored 'blobs' became a part of my life once again.

One day in my Art class whilst watching my teacher giving her lesson I was aware of colors developing all around her. Big clouds of blue, yellow, green and gold were aglow around her. I realized then that what I was seeing, and what I was always able to see as a child was the aura. Not only was I seeing the aura, I was aware of the presence of her spirit guide assisting her with the teaching of her class. He was apparent to me as a large golden figure behind her shoulder. This was really a beautiful sight. From my vision of this I was able to perceive her obvious feeling and passion for Art and of sharing that with her students. It was amazing!

The irony of this is that for several years I was aware of the existence of auras and understood what they were in terms of being a form of clairvoyance. It never once occurred to me that those colors I was able to see since childhood were in fact auras, being one aspect of my own clairvoyant ability. On reading about auras and hearing about the subject on TV shows etc, I had built up my own expectation of what I thought auras would look like and exaggerated the whole affair in the process!
For any of you, who are confused as to what I am talking about, let me explain briefly what an aura is. The aura is the energy field which surrounds each and every one of us. In simplest of terms it is the emotional body of a human being. There are seven layers to an aura where each layer represents its own purpose. For now I will concentrate on the closest layer to the physical human body, the most 'earthly' layer. That is, as I said, the emotional body.

My own experiences in seeing a person's aura does help me in determining and dealing with that individual. The real truth of a person is contained in their aura, how they are feeling, how they are communicating and if they are deep and compassionate or restless and anxious. These are only a few of the examples of the mood that can be detected in the aura. Regardless if a person is genuine with you and expressing themselves completely and honestly or not, you can detect their true emotional state of mind and being in their aura at that point.

As I am sure you all know, we do tend to associate specific colors with particular feelings. For example, red with anger or danger, green with jealousy and yellow is cowardice. Where the aura is concerned these definitions of color and their significance has no relevance. Certainly, for me in my own case I do not bind my experience with colors to those rules. The color is in fact not important in itself. The way you feel when you see the color in a persons aura is what is significant. Realize how that color makes you feel, trust that feeling and all else becomes irrelevant. To label feelings and emotions with specific colors and sticking to those rules only creates limitation.

I do value my gift as being a trusty tool for me in my life. Whether it is the aura I am seeing or the person's spirit guide, it is irrelevant. What is relevant is how I feel with it, how that person is apparently feeling and of how I might be able to help them with my vision of their aura or guide and explaining and describing that to them. As I said before, the truth is in the aura. It is a reflection of all what we are inside and of what we are feeling and expressing at that point in time.
I referred to a spirit guide as being a part of my Art teacher's aura. We all have spirit guides whether we are aware of it or not! I feel it relevant to include this point as a part of my brief on auras as I do see a persons guide manifesting as a part of their aura.

I myself have once, and I am sure most of us at one point in our lives have considered 'spirit 'as being ghosts or ghouls! That is just a stereotype and although spirit does exist in some cases as ghosts, being souls trapped between two dimensional planes. In the terms of the subject I am discussing it does not involve spiritual occurrence of this nature. I myself was guilty of once believing spirit would present themselves as scary apparitions, dripping with slime and the like! This is in fact not the case at all. This conclusion was the result of my watching one too many horror movies as a child!

Not to drift from the whole point of my article I will explain why I have moved on to discussing spirit. As I said previously, I do see spirit manifesting as part of the aura, as well as seeing them elsewhere in the form of clouds of colored energy. I am able to distinguish them from the persons own energy as it has a different density and 'sheen' to it. Usually they appear to me in gold, lilac, pink, shades of blue or violet, but it does vary depending on that spirits energy and purpose for being there at that particular time.

For me, this is a significant part of being able to see a person's aura as it reinforces the whole feeling, expression and essence of the whole experience.
I did not fully understand the concept of auras in the beginning, but I am learning more and more each day. I do accept this gift as being a part of me and as a valuable tool for me in my life in terms of understanding people who I encounter. As well as being of value to me in myself, it should be as valuable to any person who I might be able to help with my ability to read their aura if and when necessary. It is not something that is weird or frightening, it is just a wonderful part of me and I would never ever change that. My goal now is to develop my gift to its full potential in order that for myself and other people I can help with that gift, can take advantage of the full benefit and assistance it can bring in my own and in their life.
